The EU and US have launched Free Trade talks. This is exciting news that has the potential of helping US Manufacturers export more goods into the EU. There are no details available at this time, but talks are supposed to begin in June and according to the BBC can sometimes take years.
The European Union and the US will begin formal talks on a free-trade agreement, paving the way for the biggest trade deal in history.
European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso made the joint announcement following President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.
The current Exports to the EU
Below is a graph of data for Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin exports to the EU from 2005 to 2012. Perhaps a Free Trade Agreement could help increase the exports. Time will tell.
