\"SFI<\/a>CBP\u00a0(Customs & Border protection)\u00a0– Preparation for ISF\u00a0Liquidated Damages Phase begins next month.<\/p>\n

CBP\u00a0will begin the liquidated damages phase of ISF\u00a0enforcement on July 9, 2013, adding to the use of manifest holds and non-intrusive inspections to enforce ISF\u00a0compliance. In order to achieve maximum compliance with the least amount of disruption to the trade and to domestic port operations, CBP has been applying a measured and commonsense approach to enforcement.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Liquidated damages of $5,000 per violation may be issued by\u00a0CBP\u00a0for the submission of an inaccurate, incomplete or untimely filing.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Simply,\u00a0liquidated damages is a penalty secured by a bond.\u00a0 If goods arrive where an\u00a0ISF has not been filed, the release or transfer of the cargo may be withheld.\u00a0 Additionally, cargo could be subject to\u00a0further inspection upon arrival.<\/p>\n
