{"id":4074,"date":"2015-10-19T11:26:45","date_gmt":"2015-10-19T16:26:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/supfrt.com\/news\/?p=4074"},"modified":"2015-10-19T11:26:45","modified_gmt":"2015-10-19T16:26:45","slug":"chinese-citizen-sentenced-to-18-months-in-prison-for-attempt-to-hand-carry-restricted-technology-to-china","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/supfrt.com\/news\/2015\/10\/19\/chinese-citizen-sentenced-to-18-months-in-prison-for-attempt-to-hand-carry-restricted-technology-to-china\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese Citizen Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison for Attempt to Hand Carry Restricted Technology to China"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/supfrt.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/DOJ-logo.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2491\" src=\"http:\/\/supfrt.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/DOJ-logo.jpg\" alt=\"DOJ - logo\" width=\"228\" height=\"222\" \/><\/a>Chinese Citizen Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison for Attempt to Hand Carry Restricted Technology to China<\/p>\n<p class=\"node-subtitle center\">A 41-year-old citizen, YUE WU,\u00a0of the People\u2019s Republic of China was sentenced\u00a0in U.S. District Court in Seattle to 18 months in prison for Conspiracy to Violate the Arms Export Control Act.\u00a0\u00a0YUE WU was arrested\u00a0as he prepared to leave the United States from the San Francisco International Airport.<\/p>\n<div class=\"field field--name-field-pr-subtitle field--type-text field--label-hidden\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"field field--name-field-pr-subtitle field--type-text field--label-hidden\">WU began his efforts to obtain a type of accelerometer which is used in satellites and spacecraft and can only be exported from the United States if a license is issued by the U.S. State Department.\u00a0 On multiple occasions WU attempted to convince a contact to send the accelerometers to China either disguised in a different export, or via a different country. \u00a0WU did not know that the person he was working with to obtain the equipment was an undercover law enforcement agent.
