The MTO (Minnesota Trade Organization) is co-hosting with the BIS (Bureau of Industry &\u00a0Security) two\u00a0seminars\u00a0on June 14 and 15, 2016<\/strong> at the new Hyatt Regency\u00a0in Bloomington, MN.<\/p>\n

Here are the two\u00a0seminars:<\/p>\n

NEW Day 1:\u00a0Essentials of U.S. Export Controls<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is an intensive, one-day program that covers the key information you need to know to comply with the EAR.\u00a0 Counseling and other professionals from the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) will cover the major elements of the U.S. export control system for commercial exports.\u00a0 This fast-paced program is ideal for those with busy schedules.<\/p>\n

About the Instructors:<\/strong> The instructors are experienced export policy specialists and engineers from BIS’s Washington, D.C. headquarters.\u00a0 The instructors will be available throughout the seminar to answer\u00a0questions.<\/p>\n

NEW Day 2: Export Management and Compliance Course<\/strong>
\nDeveloping and maintaining an Export Management and Compliance Program (EMCP) is highly recommended to ensure that export transactions comply with the Export Administration Regulations<\/a> (EAR), and to prevent export control violations.<\/p>\n

This one-day workshop provides an overview of the steps a company may take to implement an internal EMCP. Agenda topics include guidance on how to establish an EMCP, strategies to improve your company\u2019s compliance program, how to avoid common compliance errors, and how to build a solid framework for your company\u2019s compliance program. This program includes small group discussion, hands-on exercises, and compliance peer networking. The program will be led by senior export compliance specialists from the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS).<\/p>\n

Recommended prerequisite:<\/strong> Essentials of U.S. Export Controls (Day 1), or Complying with U.S. Export Controls, or equivalent experience.<\/p>\n

\u00a0When:<\/strong> Tuesday and Wednesday, June 14 and 15, 2016.\u00a0Registration and breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. each day; seminars from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
