Within one year, the industry witnessed the largest bankruptcy in liner history with Hanjin Shipping, historically low spot rates, the narrowing of the Top 20 global container lines to 14, and the dramatic reorganization of global shipping lines into new, larger vessel-sharing agreements. With the industry in such a dynamic state.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The JOC goes on to state that there are some hot topics in 2017 like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pricing gets shakier<\/strong> \u2013 One of the biggest question of 2017 is: how will pricing and capacity develop?<\/li>\n<li><strong>More consolidation?<\/strong> \u2013 Container line losses for 2016 are estimated to range from $5 billion to $10 billion when the year\u2019s accounting is wrapped up.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alliance adjustments<\/strong> \u2013 This new year brings new vessel-sharing agreements into effect in April.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Labor and employers squaring off<\/strong> \u2013 2017 will be pivotal year for longshore labor relations in US ports.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Big ship to test US ports<\/strong> \u2013 As the new alliances deploy larger ships, US ports must invest in infrastructure and take new approaches to terminal operations so they can effectively handle the cargo surges.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Terminals and ports band together<\/strong> \u2013 Nothing the operational and cost efficiency container lines generated by teaming up with rivals, ports and terminal around the world have started to do likewise.<br \/>\nTo read more: please visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joc.com\/maritime-news\/slide-show-top-waves-hitting-ocean-shippers-2017_20170109.html\">Journal of Commerce<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><strong>Notice Regarding ACE \u2013 Postponement of the January 14 deployment<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The January 14, 2017, deployment of post release capabilities including liquidation (with the exception of the electronic posting of the Notices of Liquidation on CBP.gov), drawback, reconciliation, duty deferral, collections, statements and the Automated Surety Interface will be postponed.<br \/>\nHowever, pursuant to the Final Rule published on December 12, 2016, CBP will post the Notices of Liquidation on CBP.gov effective January 14, 2017, as planned.<br \/>\nIn consideration of stakeholder feedback and the complexity of the ongoing integration testing, CBP is providing additional time to prepare for the final core ACE deployment and ensure a smooth transition of liquidation, drawback, reconciliation, duty deferral, collections, statements and Automated Surety Interface capabilities in ACE.<br \/>\nCBP will provide updated information and a new deployment date in the near future.
