{"id":4796,"date":"2017-06-26T13:36:56","date_gmt":"2017-06-26T18:36:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/supfrt.com\/news\/?p=4796"},"modified":"2017-06-26T13:36:56","modified_gmt":"2017-06-26T18:36:56","slug":"florida-firm-fined-27-million-export-violations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/supfrt.com\/news\/2017\/06\/26\/florida-firm-fined-27-million-export-violations\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida Firm Fined $27 Million for Export Violations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/supfrt.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/BIS-Logo-e1462909446747.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1656\" src=\"http:\/\/supfrt.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/BIS-Logo-e1462909446747.png\" alt=\"BIS-Logo\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Florida Firm Fined $27 Million for Export Violations<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Department of Commerce\u2019s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) announced that it has reached a $27 million civil settlement with Access USA Shipping, LLC (\u201cAccess USA\u201d), of Sarasota, Florida, to settle allegations that it committed violations of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) during April 21, 2011 through January 7, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Access USA settled 129 counts of evasion, 17 counts of exporting or attempting to export crime control items without the required license, and 4 counts of exporting or attempting to export to a sanctioned entity on the BIS Entity List without the required license. $17 million dollars of the penalty was suspended for a two-year probationary period. They illegally shipped rifle scopes, night vision lenses, weapons parts, and EAR99 items.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary Ross:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI am very proud of the work that our Bureau of Industry Security continues to do in defense of our laws and our national security. I\u2019ve said it before \u2013 the games are over, and the work of these agents will be more important than ever as we bring new energy to the enforcement of our trade laws.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Access USA, a Florida-based mail and package forwarding company, provided foreign customers with a US physical address and a \u201csuite\u201d \u2013 designated space at its warehouse facilities \u2013 for items purchased from United States merchants that were ultimately intended for export.
