UPDATE: West Coast Ports

August 18, 2014 by Karen Edwards Leave a Comment

UPDATE-West Coast PortsUPDATE: West Coast Ports

Contract negotiations are continuing… and have been ‘uncharacteristically tame’.

The impact of the ongoing US West Coast labor talks could be considered widespread [JOC]:

  • Diversions of US bound cargo to Vancouver
    • DP World’s Vancouver advised last week that it would stop accepting US bound rail cargo
    • CN is sold out of intermodal capacity
  • East Coast ports showing increase in arrival delays

Congestion – there is some congestion at the West Coast ports of Los Angeles & Long Beach not because of contract negotiations, but as a result of the increased volumes causing lack of chassis’ and rail availability.

If you have any questions about arriving cargo, please contact us at 800. 298.4305 or superior@supfrt.com
