On Thursday (yesterday) as well as Tuesday, there were brief periods of no container vessels arriving. This is a significant indicator that the congestion is easing.

From JOC:

The largest U.S. port complex is not out of the woods yet, however, as the vessel arrival schedule provided by the Marine Exchange of Southern California showed two container ships scheduled to arrive at anchor later on Thursday, one on Friday, none on Saturday and one on Sunday. Another 12 container ships are scheduled to arrive at berth over the next four days.

Los Angeles – Long Beach has suffered through congestion issue for almost one year now. The problems began with the brutal winter of 2013-14 in the eastern half of the continent, when intermodal rail services in the U.S. and Canada broke down and container backlogs developed at all West Coast ports.

The air freight impact as a result of the west coast port congestion is easing as well. However,  forwarders are reporting that capacity remains tight between Asia Pacific and the US.
