Incoterms 2010 Revisited

June 8, 2015 by Karen Edwards Leave a Comment

Incoterms 2010 ChartIncoterms 2010 Revisited

We previously published an Incoterms Overview – A simple detailed guide to understanding Incoterms that includes images and charts. It explains the what & why as well as the letter’s for each category of Incoterms – C, F, E, & D.

The timing of Incoterms 2010 -> This latest version was launched in September 2010 but went into effect on 1st January 2011. This sometimes leads to confusion, with people referring to Incoterms 2011. Sometimes you may hear references to Incoterms 2012 or Incoterms 2013. Incoterms is not updated annually and the current correct is ‘Incoterms 2010’.

The term delivery in the freight industry is usually understood to mean the point at which the seller completes his contractual commitment. It does not necessarily mean the physical arrival of the goods to their destination.
