Export Packing Guidelines

March 8, 2013 by Mark Collins Leave a Comment

I frequently get asked by my customers the best way to pack a standard pallet with their products to insure some protection against loading and unloading in trucks, aircraft, containers etc. Below is typically what I advise.

  • All drums/packages must be loaded within the dimensions of the pallet with no overhang
  • Cardboard layer between drums/packages and pallets to avoid potential nails going into boxes/drums
  • Completely shrink wrap all four sides of the product to the skids.
  • Fully band the drums/packages to the pallets making sure banding cannot be “snapped” by forklifts as they are loaded/unloaded
  • “Cardboard Corners” where banding is used between drums/packages and bands
