\"On<\/a>Vancouver Trucking Strike Update<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Government of Canada announced on Wednesday evening that they are taking immediate and coordinated action to address the work disruption at Port Metro Vancouver.<\/span><\/p>\n

Port Metro Vancouver (PMV) expects everyone with a TLS license or permit to be at work on Thursday, March 20. PMV will begin its planned reform of the licensing system and move to terminate licenses.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the Port of Vancouver:<\/p>\n

The Government of British Columbia is preparing back-to-work legislation with a 90-day cooling off period for 250 truckers who are members of Unifor, with the intention of introduction in the Legislature as early as Monday, March 24.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

PMV’s said
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

“We will not be renewing licenses or permits in the current system that are soon to expire. In particular, today we will be notifying 100-to-150 of those with licenses and permits that expire at the end of March and the end of April that their TLS licenses or permits will not be renewed. Instead, we will be introducing the new license system over coming weeks.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

They say that\u00a0 “these actions are necessary, and are required today to protect the economy, protect jobs for British Columbians and Canadians, and keep goods and services moving across the country.”<\/span><\/p>\n
