Faster and easier documentation for your export shipments
Superior Freight Services online enhanced SLI!
- Introducing Superior Freight’s enhanced SLI [Shippers Letter of Instruction].
The SLI has been designed and enhanced with several key features. Our system is linked with the U.S. Department of Commerce’s schedule B database for ease that will auto fill values for you eliminating simple mistakes. Also, we download an updated copy of the Denied Parties Database every day and check all parties to the transaction so that your company is compliant. - What are the main benefits to the SLI user?
The SLI was redesigned to meet the growing and ever-changing SLI user demands. It will help reduce SLI creation time, improve SLI shipment accuracy, and support the increased need for greater international compliance. Simply put; the enhanced SLI allows SFS to deliver a greater overall value to our Customers. - Is training available?
Help is available with documentation and help buttons throughout this easy to use form. If this isn’t enough we are available to help you any time of the day by simply emailing or calling us. - What about your SLI History and Profile information?
There are a few things that you should be aware of as it relates to your SLI History and Profiles.- SLI History- SLI submissions will be visible in your SLI History and you may resubmit a new SLI with a previous SLI’s information at the click of a button.
- Existing SLI Profiles- Profiles can be created every time you fill out an SLI. These profiles are saved on your personal profile and can be used as needed. This cuts down on the time spent creating an SLI where the parties are the same (or similar) as in a previous shipment.
- Creating New SLI Profiles- New profiles can be added by simply logging into the enhanced SLI and selecting “Manage Profiles“. Newly added field validation rules will prevent the creation of duplicate and/or inaccurate profile data, which could ultimately compromise the accuracy and integrity of your shipments. It is highly recommended that all SLI users create new Sender, Recipient, Broker and Commodity profiles.
- Purpose and Use:
Superior’s SLI form is designed for exporters that authorize their freight forwarder to file their Electronic Export Information (EEI) through the Automated Export System (AES). Mandatory AES filing went into effect October 2, 2008. This form is valuable to those exporters that do not file their own Electronic Export Information through AES. The Superior SLI form is an efficient and effective way for the exporter to communicate to the freight forwarder the required information by which the freight forwarder can accurately and completely make an Electronic Export Information (EEI) filing through AES. - The multi-part form set allows the exporter to maintain a written record of what was conveyed to the agent and provides the forwarding agent with a copy to be returned to the exporter with XTN and ITN recorded. The XTN is the External Transaction Number; an Automated Export System (AES) formatted reference number commonly assigned by the forwarder when Electronic Export Information (EEI) input is made to AES. The ITN is the Internal Transaction Number that is assigned by AES to an EEI submission once the submission has been received and accepted. It is the equivalent of a confirmation that filing has been accepted. These are important data elements that an exporter needs to maintain a record of. In this way, your five-year government recordkeeping requirements are fulfilled!
