The new online versions of the HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) became effective on January 1, 2014.
The International Trade Commission released the 2014 edition of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
This new HTS applies changes made by the Presidential Proclamation 9072 which includes a rewrite of the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement rules of origin. Here are a few more:
- ILFTA: Extends duty free entry of specific quantities of certain agricultural goods under the Israel FTA through December 31, 2014
- AGOA: Mali was reinstated as a beneficiary of the African Growth and Opportunity Act
- Chile FTA: Minor typographical type changes. (Annex IV)
Some of the other changes include:
- Clarifying exemptions for some free trade agreements from the MPF (merchandising processing fee)
- Includes a statistical note on the reporting of ores, slag and residues
- Adds new statistical suffixes to several tariff subheadings for products like sterlizers
- Other changes – to correct errors, reflect changes and renumber subheadings
