New FTR for Exports: 180-day Grace Period for Compliance
The Census Bureau announced that it is giving six months grace period to come into compliance with the revised Foreign Trade Regulations that took effect April 5. Both Census and U.S. Customs and Border Protection have agreed to a 180-day ‘informed’ compliance period that will allow further education on the new requirements contained in the March 2013 final rule.

As a result, from April 5th – October 2nd there will be no penalties issued for failure to comply with any new requirements found in the March 2013 rule.
