What is e-commerce? It is buying and selling online through the Internet. The transaction is completed through an electronic network featuring computer systems—the vendor’s, a Web host’s, and the buyer’s—all of which are linked to the Internet.
Your company should be familiar with the steps necessary to make your firm’s Web site e-export capable including a website that offers at least one of the following characteristics:
- Transactional site – an electronic storefront
- Information delivery site – generates sales by promoting corporate awareness
- E-marketplaces – bring buyers and sellers together to facilitate transactions
Considerations:
- Do you have on online strategy for export target market(s)?
- Is the Internet a sales channel for your company?
- Will your web presence be only promotional or will you handle online payments?
- What enhancements will you need to make to your website (e.g. online payment)?
- Do you understand the web security requirements?
- Will need to translate your site into other languages?
