Hetran, Inc. and it’s Chief Executive Officer Helmut Oertmann were sentenced for their involvement in a conspiracy to avoid export reporting requirements & with attempting to smuggle a lathe machine to Iran in violation of U.S. export regulations.

Each were charged with Conspiracy: 15CFR – 764.20(d). Despite the knowledge that the BIS [Bureau of Industry & Security] was investigating this transaction and had advised that the shipment could not go to Iran – directly or indirectly; Hetrun, at the direction of Oertmann, continued with this conspiracy.

Helmut Oertmann received a sentence of 12-months probation. Hetran, Inc received a penalty f $337,500 cash and $500,00 cash that is suspended.
