BIS Seminars Coming to the Twin Cities
The MTO (Minnesota Trade Organization) is co-hosting with the BIS (Bureau of Industry & Security) two seminars on June 14 and 15, 2016 at the new Hyatt Regency in Bloomington, MN.

NEW Day 1: Essentials of U.S. Export Controls
This is an intensive, one-day program that covers the key information you need to know to comply with the EAR. Counseling and other professionals from the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) will cover the major elements of the U.S. export control system for commercial exports. This fast-paced program is ideal for those with busy schedules.
About the Instructors: The instructors are experienced export policy specialists and engineers from BIS’s Washington, D.C. headquarters. The instructors will be available throughout the seminar to answer questions.
NEW Day 2: Export Management and Compliance Course
Developing and maintaining an Export Management and Compliance Program (EMCP) is highly recommended to ensure that export transactions comply with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and to prevent export control violations.
This one-day workshop provides an overview of the steps a company may take to implement an internal EMCP. Agenda topics include guidance on how to establish an EMCP, strategies to improve your company’s compliance program, how to avoid common compliance errors, and how to build a solid framework for your company’s compliance program. This program includes small group discussion, hands-on exercises, and compliance peer networking. The program will be led by senior export compliance specialists from the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS).
Recommended prerequisite: Essentials of U.S. Export Controls (Day 1), or Complying with U.S. Export Controls, or equivalent experience.
When: Tuesday and Wednesday, June 14 and 15, 2016. Registration and breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. each day; seminars from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
